Day Use Activities
Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado has beachfront alongside both the Pacific Ocean and in San Diego Bay. The bay side of the beach offers picturesque views of the San Diego skyline, and the water here is usually warmer and calmer than on the ocean side. This area is great for swimming and sailing! There are also ramadas, tables, barbecue pits, and fire rings located around the area that available for use. Many visitors enjoy fishing, water skiing, and beach volleyball! Also available for day use visitors are restroom facilities. For those that like to feel like they have their own personal stretch of beachfront, Silver Strand extends into a mile and half of nature preserve.
Camping at Silver Strand
One of the most popular activities at Silver Strand State Beach is camping! The beach is famous for its great campgrounds, and the beautiful beachfront offers plenty of fun activities during your stay. Many campers enjoy spending about a week at Silver Strand, taking in the wildlife and enjoying activities in the water. There are shower facilities available for campers, but you are required to be in fully self-contained vehicles.
Dogs at Silver Strand
Dogs are allowed in the parking lots for day visitors and campers, however they must be leashed at all time. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the pedestrian tunnels or on the beach. If you want to travel with your pooch, check out Coronado Dog Beach instead!
Silver Strand Beach Cafe
During the busy summer weekends, Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Silver Strand Beach Cafe is open for business! Enjoy delicious bites such as ice cream, barbecue, and sandwiches. You can also purchase beach supplies such as sunscreen or rent a boogie board for the day!
