For those that are dedicated to their pets, it is hard to imagine going on vacation without them! Luckily, when are spending a fun day at the beach on Coronado Island, your dogs can come along too on the dog-friendly section of Coronado Municipal Beach. Bring your friendly pup for a day in the golden sand and welcoming waves and plenty of social time for both the owners and the pets! There is no better place to hang out with your dog while on Coronado Island than Coronado’s dog beaches.
Coronado Dog Beach
This dog-friendly section of beach is located along the western part of Coronado Municipal Beach and allows dogs to play off their leash all year long! The dog beach is also open 24 hours a day, so the only limit to your time at the beach is yours and your pooch’s energy. Park along Ocean Boulevard and follow the signs that will lead you to the dog park. Be sure to keep your dog leashed during this walk, as there is a zero-tolerance policy for animal off their leash in other sections of the beach and you could face up to a $500 fine. Once you reach the dog beach, you will be greeted by views of the historic Hotel del Coronado and the Point Loma skyline while you are your fur babies play the day away!
Facilities and Amenities
Unfortunately, the Coronado Dog Beach does not offer restroom facilities. However, there is a foot shower located just south of the entrance on Ocean Boulevard, which is a great place to clean off your pup before you head back into the car. The city also provides complimentary dog litter bags at the entrance.
Doggy Etiquette
Although Coronado’s dog beaches area allows pooches to roam freely, it is important to follow proper etiquette when bringing your dog here. Owners must monitor their dogs at all times and clean up after them as needed. All animals must have current licenses and be up to date on vaccines. Excessive barking or aggressive behavior is not tolerated from dogs or humans, and you may be asked to leave the area. Lastly, food and treats are not allowed in order to help keep the beach clean, and it is recommended that you bring plenty of water for you and your dog as there are no water fountains in the area.
